
RailHawks Defeat Miami FC 3-2

Cary, NC (Friday, August 18, 2008) - The Carolina RailHawks defeated Miami FC 3-2 on Friday night in a very important match for position in the standings and the Railhawks playoff run. An own goal in the 19th minute put the RailHawks up 1-0 early in the first half. Miami responded immediately with a goal by Caue' Da Mata in the 22nd. Hamed Diallo scored his first goal as a RailHawk in the 25th minute assisted by Matt Watson and Ronald Cerritos fixed the score on 3-1 at the half. Miami tried to rally back late in the game and was able to put one more in the back of the net when Ansu Toure' served a ball that was headed in by League-leading goal scorer Alex Afonso in the 84th minute finalizing the score on 3-2 in favor of the RailHawks. The RailHawks are now only three points out of the seventh and final playoff spot and well in the run for making it into the post season for the second year in a row.
The RailHawks embark on the second to last road trip of the season next week as they visit Minnesota on August 22 and Seattle on August 24 before returning home to host the Montreal Impact on Saturday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. All away games may be viewed on USLLive.com and tickets for the August 30 match may be purchased at the LGFCU Box Office, by calling 919-859-KICK (5425), at all Ticketmaster outlets or by visiting www.carolinarailhawks.com.
