North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, N.C. (Friday, May 28, 2010) - The Carolina RailHawks (2-2-2, 8 pts.) are back at work today to prepare for their trip to Montreal this Sunday. The RailHawks will face the Impact (3-1-2, 11 pts.) at Saputo Stadium on May 30 at 2 p.m. The match can be seen online at www.carolinarailhawks.com/railhawks-live.
"The Impact are a very good team," said RailHawks coach Martin Rennie. "I like the way they play and we match up well against them. We're going into this game with a lot of confidence and we are looking forward to it."
The Impact are coming off a 1-1 tie against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the final game of the Canadian Nutrilite tournament. They are led by forward Rocco Placentino who has tallied two goals and one assist so far this season. In their last match of league play, on May 19, they defeated the Portland Timbers 1-0 at PGE Park.
The RailHawks will look to continue their positive road trip with another victory after the phenomenal 2-1 stoppage time win in Puerto Rico. Daniel Paladini scored the game-winner in the 95th minute of play right before the referee blew the final whistle. Midfielder Josh Gardner tallied an assist in the Sallieu Bundu goal earlier in the match.
"We're coming off a good win," said Josh Gardner. "This will be a tough match but we are going into it with confidence and we are ready for the challenge."
The RailHawks continue their four game road trip on June 6 in Portland and end it in Vancouver on June 9. They return home for their first US Open Cup fixture (June 15 TBD) and their next regular season home game on June 19.
