RailCats Set Playoff Roster

Fargo, ND - Prior to their playoff series with the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks, the RailCats activated pitcher Marco Gonzalez from the inactive list. To make room on the roster, pitcher Tim Verthein was placed on the inactive list and pitcher Matt Jernstad was placed on the disabled list retroactive to September 3.
Gonzalez was originally placed on the disabled list August 5 and was transferred to the inactive list on August 21. Gonzalez is having a career season with a 1.89 ERA, he's 0-3 with eight saves. Each of his last 12 appearances have been scoreless.
Tim Verthein made his professional debut for the RailCats on Sunday against the El Paso Diablos. Verthein took a no-decision and threw five and 1/3 innings. He allowed four runs on three hits and three walks.
The RailCats acquired Matt Jernstad on August 10 from the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League for future considerations. In eight appearances, one start, Jernstad allowed seven runs on 14 hits and seven walks in 11 and 1/3 innings. He last appeared for the RailCats on Saturday in their wild card clinching victory over El Paso, Jernstad went 2/3 of an inning, including a pickoff, and allowed a pair of inherited runners to score.
