
Railcats roll on at U.S. Steel Yard with homestand

After Monday and Tuesday night games, the RailCats get an early start on Wednesday, July 15 with an 11 a.m. first pitch at U. S. Steel Yard. Gates open at 10 a.m. when the RailCats host the Kansas City T-Bones and invite youth camps and senior groups to the ballpark for Youth & Senior Day. The first 1,000 fans will also receive a picture pack featuring shots of RailCats players and coaches who will be available to sign their photos on the concourse near the main entrance until 10:30 a.m. Picture packs are courtesy of Great Lakes Orthopedics.
Thursday, July 16, the RailCats celebrate Lawyer's Night with lawyer-themed promotions, including the first 1,000 fans receiving a special Seat Cushion, sponsored by Salvi, Schostok, & Pritchard, P.C. And on Lawyer's Night, what better way to enjoy an evening in court with Thirsty Thursday at U. S. Steel Yard. Fans aged 21 and older can enjoy $2 MGD and Miller Lite drafts, sponsored by North Coast Distributing and X-Rock 103.9 FM. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the RailCats and T-Bones closing out their four-game series.
The weekend brings the Schaumburg Flyers to town as the gates open at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 17. The RailCats will hold Boricua Night, inviting those in the Puerto Rican Cultural Community to come out and represent their heritage. The RailCats will double that with Bike Night where motorcyclists of Northwest Indiana can ride their bike down to U. S. Steel Yard and show it off for others in town. After the game, fans will be treated to a fireworks show presented by First Midwest Bank and The Post-Tribune.
Saturday, July 17, the first 1,000 kids (12 and under) receive one of the most coveted giveaways, a free bat from the Hoosier Bat Co., courtesy of Pinnacle Hospital and The Post-Tribune. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the famous Jesse White Tumblers will thrill the audience with their acrobatic showcase until 5:30.with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
Sunday, July 18 rounds out the first homestand of the second half when the first 1,500 fans receive a free RailCats Beach Towel, courtesy of Community Health Care Systems. The RailCats will keep the sunny theme going with Hawaiian Day as U. S. Steel Yard will be given some tropical flair and leis will be passed out. The RailCats will also wear special light green jerseys and fans can place bids during the game to leave with an authentic game-worn sweater. As always, Sunday is The Times Family Day where fans who clip the coupon in Sunday's edition of The Times can buy four box seat tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas for just $36. The first 500 kids will be given a free Kids Pack sponsored by "A Place of Our Own", airing on Lakeshore Public Television. Gates open at 1 p.m. with a 2 p.m. first pitch.
