Flyers win 4-2 in 14 innings

JOLIET - The Schaumburg Flyers (24-23) erased a 2-1 Joliet lead with a single run in the 8th inning and came back for two runs in the 14th inning to beat the Joliet JackHammers (19-32) by a score of 4-2 before 2,745 fans at Silver Cross Field on Saturday night.

The Flyers scored single run in the 1st inning against JackHammers RHP Jason Richardson. CF Travis Ezi (1-7) reached base on an error. He responded by stealing second and third base. SS Travis Brown (4-7) hit an RBI single to score Ezi for a 1-0 Schaumburg lead.

The JackHammers tied the scoring in the 2nd inning. LF Tydus Meadows (1-5) led off the inning with a double and scored two batters later when 1B Freddie Thon (4-7) hit a single.

Joliet took the lead in the 3rd inning on a solo home run off the bat off 3B Andrew Pinckney (2-6). He hit a solo home run over the right field wall for a 2-1 Joliet advantage.

Richardson worked six innings and allowed an unearned run on six hits. He did not walk a man and struck out four.

The Flyers scored a single in the 8th inning to tie the game at 2-2. Brown hit a one-out single and stole second base. After 2B Jose Valdez (2-6) struck out, RF Victor Ferrante (1-6) singled home Brown for a 2-2 tied score.

In the 14th inning, the Flyers started off the inning with a walk to C Richard Mercado (2-5). LF TJ Wilson (2-6) grounded out against RHP Chad Blackwell (1-2) to move Mercado to second base. Ezi hit an RBI single to score Mercado from second base for a 3-2 Flyers lead.
