RailCats Re-Sign Infielder Chase Tucker

GARY, Ind. - With players reporting for spring training in just one week, RailCats manager Greg Tagert has re-signed infielder Chase Tucker for the 2013 season. The RailCats roster is full at 28 players, the league maximum during spring training.

Tucker made his professional debut with the RailCats during the final month of the 2012 season and appeared in 12 games. After a slow start, Tucker was 11-for-24 to finish out the season. The second baseman hit .297 overall with seven RBI.

Tucker, 23, played remarkable baseball on Aug. 25 and 26 at Wichita, when he was 6-for-6 with a triple, two walks, five RBI and two runs over two games. The Poway, Calif., native played college baseball at the University of Redlands, where he was a two-time All-SCIAC selection.

RailCats players will report for spring training on Thursday, May 2 and the first official workout is Saturday, May 4. RailCats Opening Day is on Thursday, May 16 at 7:10 p.m. against the Lincoln Saltdogs.
