TRYOUT: Wednesday, May 7, at 9 a.m. RailCats Open Tryout Camp

The RailCats will hold an open tryout camp for any baseball players who believe they can contribute to the on-field success of the club. The camp is free of charge. Players should bring gear that they would utilize in practice or a game (hat, cleats, glove, baseball pants). Bats and balls are provided at the workout. Catchers may want to use their own catching gear. Prior college or professional experience is not necessary. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

MEDIA DAY: Friday, May 9, at 1 p.m. RailCats Media Day / Team Workout

The RailCats will conduct their first full-squad workout of spring training. All players and coaches will be available for one-on-one interviews and photographs. Newspapers and television stations are encouraged to gather player headshots at media day.

OPEN HOUSE: Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. SouthShore Depot Souvenir Store Grand Opening / Stadium Open House

The RailCats open their 3,500-square feet SouthShore Depot Souvenir Store. The SouthShore Depot is the place where fans can purchase RailCats caps, t-shirts, jerseys, jackets, pennants, logo balls, and other favorite RailCats souvenir items. RailCats Stadium will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tours will be conducted and fans can watch the RailCats work out on the field in the second workout of spring training.

OPENING DAY: Memorial Day, May 26 at 3 p.m. vs. the Schaumburg Flyers. The game will be the RailCats Inaugural Home Opener.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats are the new, professional minor league baseball team serving northwest Indiana and Chicago's south suburbs. The RailCats' 90-game Northern League schedule includes 45 home games at RailCats Stadium, a charming, state-of-the-art ballpark, conveniently located next to the Indiana toll road, with easy access from I-65, 80/94 and the Chicago Skyway.
