Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs News Release

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs will be holding an Ugly Sweater Contest as part of the Teddy Bear Toss game on Saturday, December 17 at the Berglund Center, sponsored by All-State Gillespie Agencies in Vinton and Rocky Mount and Q99 radio. Prizes will be handed out to the top three finishers in the contest, included a $500 cash prize for first place.

To participate, fans should wear their ugliest sweater, take a picture of themselves in said sweater at the game and send it to the Rail Yard Dawgs Facebook page. The Dawgs staff will select the winners, which will then be announced at the beginning of the third period at Saturday's game.

In addition to the $500 prize to the first place finisher, second place will receive an autographed Rail Yard Dawgs jersey and third place will take home a Rail Yard Dawgs fan pack.

Saturday will be the Rail Yard Dawgs first annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Fans are encouraged to bring or purchase a teddy bear at the game. When the Dawgs score their first goal, fans will let said bears fly and send them down to the ice. Proceeds from the event will go to Shriners Children's Hospital and other local organizations and the bears thrown onto the ice will be donated to children in the hospital.

The Rail Yard Dawgs will also be wearing special ugly sweater jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game. Honey Tree Early Learning Center's Family Four Packs are also available for the Teddy Bear Toss and can be purchased through the Dawgs office at 540-344-DAWG. Package includes four tickets, two sodas, and two popcorns, starting at just $39.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM on Saturday as Roanoke hosts the Fayetteville FireAntz. Tickets are available for purchase at Berglund Center box office and online at http://bit.ly/RYDTeddyBearToss.
