LAST TIME OUT: Steve Mele scored twice, Jeff Jones netted the eventual game-winner in the third and the Rail Yard Dawgs beat the Huntsville Havoc, 5-3, Friday night at Berglund Center. Jacob Caffrey made 34 saves on 37 shots and Vojtech Zemlicka dished out two assists in his first game back from an eight-game IR stint.

SCHWARTZ TO BRAMPTON: Rail Yard Dawgs winger Jesse Schwartz was called up to the ECHL's Brampton Beast on Saturday morning. Schwartz has eight goals and seven assists and its +10 in 28 games for the Dawgs. The rookie out of UCONN is set to make his first appearance in the ECHL. Roanoke now has six skaters on loan to the Double-A league- Schwartz joins Michael Economos (Utah Grizzlies), Dillan Fox (Maine Mariners), Cam Bakker (South Carolina Stingrays), Alex Adams (Brampton Beast) and Sean Federow (Adirondack Thunder) in the ECHL.

SWITCHING SIDES: Roanoke forward Zach Nieminen opened the season with Huntsville and was claimed off waivers by the Dawgs after the Havoc cut him loose in December. Nieminen played ten games for Huntsville and had three goals and an assist before being let go. He has four goals and seven assists in 22 games with the Rail Yard Dawgs. Nieminen also played three games for the Havoc at the end of the 2017-18 season after finishing his college career at Buffalo State.

MELE...ROLLING: Steve Mele scored twice on Friday night, his second two-goal game in his last three outings. He now has four goals and an assist in his last three games. Mele leads the Rail Yard Dawgs with three goals and an assist in three games against Huntsville this season. He is third on the team overall with 26 points (9 G, 17 A).

PACK YOUR BAGS: Following Saturday's game against Huntsville, the Rail Yard Dawgs will play their next 11 games on the road. That begins with a Sunday matinee in Knoxville against the Ice Bears. The Rail Yard Dawgs will not return home until March 22. Counting Saturday's matchup with the Havoc, the Dawgs have five home games and 13 road games remaining on their schedule.

THE OTHER GUYS: Friday's game was the third consecutive loss for Huntsville. That's on the heels of a stretch in which the Havoc won nine of ten games. Huntsville is the defending President's Cup Champion and is led offensively by Ryan Salkeld, who is second in the league with 42 points and tied for the SPHL's lead with 18 goals. The Rail Yard Dawgs have gone 2-1-0 against the Havoc this season on Saturday is the final regular season meeting between the two teams.

UP NEXT: The Rail Yard Dawgs will finish their weekend of three games in as many days on Sunday afternoon in Knoxville against the Ice Bears. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 PM at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.
