Raiders' Garrett Zemlak Named CHL Goaltender Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Garrett Zemlak of the Prince Albert Raiders is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 1. Zemlak won two games including one shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.500 and a save percentage of.988.

Zemlak began his week on Wednesday at home where he backstopped the Raiders to a 6-0 shutout win over the Medicine Hat Tigers. He made 39 saves including 18 in the second period and was able to successfully withstand seven power play opportunities for the Tigers as second star of the game. The shutout win was his first of the season and second of his career. His strong play continued on Friday where he made 41 saves including 17 in the third period and was again named second star of the game in a 4-1 win over the Regina Pats.

Zemlak, a 20-year-old from Saskatoon, SK, is playing in his fourth WHL season and second with the Raiders after beginning his career playing two seasons with the Saskatoon Blades. In 14 games this season he has posted a record of 9-5-0-0 with a 2.84 goals-against-average and.914 save percentage.

Also considered for the award this week was Mavric Parks of the OHL's Kitchener Rangers and Peter Delmas of the QMJHL's Quebec Remparts. Parks won two games allowing a total of just one goal on 66 shots faced posting a shutout victory with 24 saves as first star in a 4-0 win over the Brampton Battalion. Delmas also won two games and finished the week with a goals-against-average of 1.97 and a save percentage of.944.
