Raiders Fall In Overtime In Game 3
Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders were stunned 5-4 in overtime by the Moose Jaw Warriors on Tuesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Raiders now trail the best-of-seven series 2-1.
After taking a 4-2 lead late in the third, the Warriors battled back with two goals with their goaltender pulled and Brayden Burke ended the game 19 seconds into the overtime period.
It was a dream start to the game for the Raiders. Curtis Miske recovered a rebound in the slot 59 seconds into the game and wired a shot past Brody Willms to make it 1-0. Less than five minutes later, Ryan Peckford slid a rebound through Ian Scott to tie the game up.
In the second, Burke tallied his first of the game on the power-play midway through the period to put his team up 2-1.
The Raiders responded with two goals before the end of the period to take the lead. Vojtech Budik walked in from the point and snapped a shot past Willms to tie the game at the 12:19 mark. Then, Jordy Stallard beat the Warriors goaltender to give the Raiders the 3-2 advantage.
Late in the third, the Raiders appeared to get their insurance marker. Justin Nachbaur tapped in a cross-ice feed from Regan Nagy to put the Raiders up 4-2 with 2:40 to play.
About a minute after Nachbaur's goal, the Warriors cut the lead in half when Josh Brook worked around the defence and slid the puck through Scott. Less than a minute later, Brett Howden picked up a loose puck in front of the goal on a scramble play and roofed it over a downed Scott.
In overtime, Burke buried his second of the game when he sent a cross-ice pass from Tanner Jeannot past a sprawling Scott.
In the loss, Scott made 40 saves for the Raiders. Willms stopped 17 shots to pick up the win.
The two teams square off again on Wednesday night for a pivotal Game 4 at the Art Hauser Centre. Puck drop is 7 p.m. Tickets are available at tickets.raiderhockey.com or at the Raider Office.
