
Raiders Doubled Up By Rebels

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders (13-36-3-2) dropped a 6-3 decision to the Red Deer Rebels (23-21-5-3) on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
The visitors opened the scoring midway through the first period when Evan Polei knocked a puck past Nicholas Sanders to make it 1-0. With 30 seconds left in the opening frame, Michael Spacek tacked on another goal to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
The Raiders responded in the second period. Simon Stransky buried a rebound for his 14th goal of the season 1:04 into the frame. Three minutes later, Sean Montgomery finished off an Adam Kadlec pass from behind the net to level the score at 2-2.
However, the Rebels rallied in the second half of the stanza. Cameron Hausinger tapped in a rebound with 5:50 to play in the frame, followed by Spacek scoring his second goal of the game with 57 seconds remaining in the period. The Raiders cut into the lead before the end of the second when Cavin Leth managed to beat Riley Lamb with 32 seconds to play.
That 4-3 score line held until the final two minutes. Polei and Lane Zablocki each scored an empty-net goal to give the Rebels the three-goal win.
In the loss, Nicholas Sanders made 27 saves. Lamb picked up the win after stopping 32 shots.
The Raiders hit the road for the next three games, beginning on Wednesday night in Medicine Hat against the Tigers. The next Raiders' home game is on Wednesday, February 15 against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Tickets are available at raiderhockey.com, the Raider Office or by calling 306-764-5348.
