Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - Last time Rocky Mountain Rage captain Dan Vandermeer played his little brother, Amarillo player Bill Vandermeer, Bill's team took the win. Tonight was time for Dan's team to answer back. The Rocky Mountain Rage shut down the Amarillo Gorillas 6-0 tonight at the Broomfield Event Center, shifting the bragging rights among the Vandermeer brothers.

Five different Rage players took scoring credit tonight, including two goals from winger Bret DeCecco. Among all the scoring however, goaltender David Guerrera was arguably the player of the game stopping all 26 Amarillo shots on goal.

DeCecco drew the first goal of the game and eventual game winner at 13:44. Dorian Anneck and Adam Loncan were credited with assists on the play. It was not until defenseman Jordan Little scored on a from behind-the-net pass by Nathan Rosychuck did the Rage show complete confidence.

Rocky Mountain's Anneck and Dominic Noel earned the best two scoring chances of the second period with back to back shots. Anneck faked a move forcing Amarillo goaltender Shawn Conschafter out of his net. Anneck skated around and fired the puck hitting the post. Noel picked up the rebound and scored. For the second consecutive game, the Rage took a 3-0 lead.

In the third period, Rocky Mountain opened the flood gates. Rage forward Chip Dunleavy picked up a pass from Dan Vandermeer, kept it from three Amarillo defenders and chipped the puck in net at 10:48. Under three minutes later, Anneck upped the Rage lead 5-0 with a slapshot from the right circle. DeCecco closed out scoring at 15:42 by adding his second goal of the night and 14th of the season.

The Rage improves to 14-33-5 (33 points) for fourth place in the northwest division and the Gorillas continue a seven-game losing streak falling to 26-24-3 (55 points) for third place in the southwest division.

The Rage returns to action tomorrow (March 3) when they travel north to the Budweiser Events Center to play rival and the northwest division leader the Colorado Eagles in their final matchup of the season. Fans can listen online at www.RockyMountainRage.com or over the radio live on AM Z560 with pre-game starting at 6:50 p.m. MT.
