Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

The Youngstown SteelHounds continued their hot play on Friday night as they upped their unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1) with a 4-1 victory over the Memphis RiverKings at the Chevy Centre.

There was no score in the first period but in the second period Garrett Larson tipped in a Milan Maslonka shot at 10:59 to give Youngstown a 1-0 lead. The RiverKings quickly answered back thanks to Brad Wanchulak's sixth goal of the season to tie the game at one after two periods.

The third period despite being out-shot 15-9, the Hounds were the ones to cash in on their chances as three unanswered goals by Stephen Margeson, Matt Hanson and an empty net Chris Richards goal gave the SteelHounds a convincing 4-1 win on Friday night.

For the Hounds it is the first time in six games that they have not needed overtime or a shootout to earn a victory but they are now perfect in their last five and are unbeaten in their last eight as they improve to 28-16-9 (65pts) with the win. These two teams will finish their three game set on Saturday night at 7:05pm when the Hounds salute our local heroes and this game is close to being sold out so get your tickets now at (330) 747-PUCK!
