Garbutt Released By New Mexico

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The New Mexico Scorpions have released forward Josh Garbutt. Head Coach Ray Edwards will fill the open roster spot after the Scorpions finish their games against Arizona and Lubbock this weekend.

Garbutt appeared in 31 games with the Scorpions scoring 17 points (5G, 12A). The rookie from Medicine Hat , Alb., had four multi-point games during his tenure with the Scorpions.

"We wish Josh the best of luck in the future," said Edwards. "We have decided to go in a different direction and expect to fill the roster spot early next week."

The New Mexico Scorpions are preparing for an exciting "Salute to the Badges" night on Friday. The Scorpions will honor all law enforcement officers, public safety workers and firefighters before, during, and after the game. The puck drops inside the Santa Ana Star Center at 7:35 p.m.

All law enforcement officers, public safety workers and firefighters are invited to the game for only $11. In addition, the Scorpions will wear special jerseys to be auctioned off after the game. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico, Haven House and Safe House.
