
Rafters Take Series Finale over Rockers

Ashwaubenon, Wis.- The Green Bay Rockers dropped the second meeting of back-to-back meetings to the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 11-3 Sunday afternoon at Capital Credit Union Park handing the Rafters the sweep in the two-game series.
The Rockers now are 13-10 in second half play this season while the Rafters are 19-6 through 25 games in the second half of the 2022 season, as Green Bay now looks to a two-game home series against the Traverse City Pit Spitters starting on Monday at Capital Credit Union Park.
Wisconsin Rapids struck first in the top of the first, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 5-0 lead through the top half of the inning.
The Rockers however responded in the bottom half of the first, as an RBI single from Tristin Garcia, an RBI double from Danny Wuestenfeld, and an RBI single from Chase Hudson made it a 5-3 game heading into the second inning.
On a solo home run to right center field by the Rafters, they extended their lead to 6-3 through two innings of play, as the Rockers did not score in the bottom half of the frame.
Wisconsin Rapids added three more runs in the third inning with a home run and two RBI hits, taking a 9-3 lead heading into the fourth at Capital Credit Union Park.
Kyle Stoddard pitched a scoreless fourth inning of work out of the bullpen while Giovanni Canales pitched a scoreless fifth inning, keeping it a 9-3 game entering the sixth inning of play.
Canales pitched the sixth and seventh innings as well, giving up no runs on just one hit in the process, as he kept the score at 9-3 going into the eighth.
The Rafters added two more runs on a two-RBI single in the top of the eighth, making the score 11-3 through the eighth inning of play.
After Ryan Culley pitched a scoreless ninth inning, the Rockers went down 1-2-3 in the ninth, sealing the deal for the Rafters as they earned the road win Sunday afternoon.
The Rockers will now take on the Traverse City Pit Spitters at home Monday in the first of a two-game series at Capital Credit Union Park. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
The pregame concert performed by Scotty Meyer will start at 5:35 p.m. with this game also being free hot dog Monday at the ballpark. This means hot dogs will be free for the first 90 minutes after gates open.
