St. Cloud Rox News Release
La Crosse, WI - St. Cloud (42-15) continued its great week with its seventh win in the last eight games with a 5-1 win over La Crosse (27-29) on Sunday.
Hunter Day (Tarleton State) had one of his best starts of the season to help the Rox get the win. Day threw six innings and only gave up one run on eight hits while striking out six. With his seventh victory of the summer, Day tied the Rox record for most wins in a single season.
The bullpen followed Day's strong performance with three no-hit innings to close out the win. Conner Wolf (Central Missouri) retired the side in order in the seventh, including two strikeouts. Jacob Moskowitz (Central Missouri) and Enrique Ozoa (Southern) each gave up just one walk and struck out two in the final two innings.
After Will Worthington (San Diego) tied the Rox' single-game record with seven RBI's on Saturday, he started the scoring for St. Cloud today. Worthington doubled down the right-field line to give the Rox an early lead.
Ethan Mann (Dallas Baptist) hit his ninth home run of the season in the fourth inning to put the Rox back on top. Mann's solo shot puts him in a tie among Great Plains players for the most home runs this season.
Late in the game, the Rox added more insurance runs. Brice Matthews (Nebraska) doubled to center to drive in two in the seventh. Then, Garrett Pennington (Wichita State) hit his second home run of the week in the eighth.
St. Cloud completes its three-game road trip on Monday against the Mankato MoonDogs. First pitch at ISG Field is scheduled for 6:35 pm. The Rox return home on Wednesday to face the MoonDogs for the final time this season. First pitch at the Rock Pile is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
