La Crosse Loggers News Release
LA CROSSE, WI - The La Crosse Loggers fell once again to the St. Cloud Rox this evening, extending their losing streak to four games.
Most of the contest was a pitcher's duel, with both teams' starters turning in quality outings. Connor Harrison (Hawaii) was on the bump for the Loggers, going 6.0 innings while giving up no earned runs on 0 walks and 8 strikeouts. His defensive provided little help, committing 4 errors in the game.
Hunter Day (Tarleton State) was the opposing starter and pitched excellent, holding the Loggers to just a run through 6.0 innings of work. With the win, he improved his record to an undefeated 7-0 on the season.
The lone run for the Loggers was scored in the 3rd inning, coming on an RBI single by Jordan Donahue (Hawaii). Donahue was the leader offensively, going 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base. Aidan Sweatt (North Florida) also chipped in by going 2-for-4. The rest of the offense was shut down by Connor Wolf (Central Missouri), Jacob Moskowitz (Central Missouri), and Enrique Ozoa (Southern), who closed out the game by tossing a combined 3.0 scoreless innings.
Following Harrison's departure, the Rox offense took advantage. They pulled away by scoring runs in the 7th and 8th frames. In the 7th, Brice Matthews (Nebraska) stayed hot by belting a 2-RBI double off the wall to centerfield. In the 8th, Garrett Pennington (Wichita State) added on by hitting a solo home run; his second of the summer.
The Loggers will take on the Willmar Stingers tomorrow at home. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 at Copeland Park in La Crosse, WI. Fans can watch live at https://northwoodsleague.com/watch-nwl/.
