Rafters Look to Rebound in Finale with Woodchucks

Wausau, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (17-13) hold a half-game lead over the Wisconsin Woodchucks (17-14) as the two teams play for second place in the Great Lakes West Division Friday.

Wisconsin Rapids dropped the series opener 13-3 on Thursday, with the Rafters lone RBI coming on a home run by Matt Oldham. Cody Turner pitched one shutout inning in relief, striking out one batter.

The Rafters will look to maintain their spot in the division standings as they continue to chase the Madison Mallards with six games remaining in the first half of the Rafters 10thAnniversary Season.

Zack Hunsicker, who has a 1-1 record and an 8.43 ERA, is projected to start for the Rafters. He has six strikeouts over 10.2 innings of work this summer. Jared Pettite will get the start for the Woodchucks, boasting a 7.87 ERA in six appearances for Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Rapids travels to Fond du Lac for a Saturday doubleheader with the Dock Spiders. The Rafters then return to Witter Field on Sunday, June 30, for a special appearance by the Inflatamaniacs, presented by Aspirus Riverview Hospital and Clinics.
