Dock Spiders Split with Mallards

Fond du Lac Dock Spiders News Release
FOND DU LAC, WI - The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (13-18) and the Madison Mallards (22-10) went at it for game two of the series and it was all Madison tonight.
Jon Young (Indiana Wesleyan) got the nod and the Mallards immediately tagged two runs in the first inning. The Dock Spiders came back quickly and tied it up in the second.
Charlie Maxwell (Northwestern) added an RBI double and Sam Novitske (Oregon) added the tying run with his own RBI. In the fifth the Mallards would re-take the lead in the fifth at 4-2.
The game was still within reach for the Dock Spiders as Zack Prajzner (Notre Dame) would get an RBI and bring the game within one. After that everything fell apart.
A seven run eighth inning made the Dock Spiders chances of winning dwindle. A lot of walks, wild pitches, and hits gave the Mallards the opportunity to blow the game wide open.
The Dock Spiders in the final two innings just had no more fight left in them. They had a shot in the third inning with runners on first and second, but couldn't deliver.
In the sixth, they spoiled their chances of a big inning after getting the first two men on. They would follow up with a strikeout, a fly out, and a ground out.
After scoring 11 runs in Madison the night before, the bats fell silent. Thats just how baseball works sometimes.
Come out and catch the Dock Spiders tomorrow night in a double header against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. First pitch is at 5:05 PM CST. Both games are going to be seven innings.
It is also "Princess Night," so come out with your princesses and enjoy some baseball.
