
Rafters Fall to Rivets

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Wisconsin Rapids Rafter (26-30, 11-10 2nd half) lost to the Rockford Rivets (24-32, 6-16 2nd half) 10-2. It was all Rockford till the ninth where the Rafters broke up a 10-0 shutout.
Rockford struck first in the second with a three-run double from Parker Bates. Ryan Cole then collected an RBI double and scored on an error to cap off the five-run second inning. Two more Rivets runs crossed home plate in third from a two-run double from Cade Bunnell. Rockford would finish in the fifth with three more runs two from a base hit and another from a bases-loaded walk.
The Rafters showed fight in the ninth. With one out, Bret Fehr (SIU Edwardsville) nailed a solo home run for the first Rafter run of the night. Alex Fedje-Johnson (Davidson) delivered an RBI sac fly to right to score Payton Robertson (Louisiana State Shreveport). Rockford held on from there with a 10-2 final.
The loss is suffered by Jake Cook (1-7, 7.16 ERA). The win is given to Jimmy Burnette (1-4, 4.45) who took a no-hit bid to the seventh. Wisconsin Rapids finishes the homestand tomorrow with a 4:05 pm CT start against the Rivets.
