Duluth Huskies News Release
The Duluth Huskies rallied for ten runs in the third inning as part of a triumph over the Waterloo Bucks tonight. Gavilan Fogarty-Harnish (Kutztown) provided six strong innings of relief and was the winning pitcher in the 10-9 victory.
The Huskies struggled early in the game, as Waterloo struck for early runs with three in the first, and three more in the third. Trailing 6-0 in the bottom of the third, Duluth needed a big inning, and they got one.
General McArthur (Missouri Baptist) started the inning with a double, and Julian Escobedo (San Diego State) brought him in with another two-bagger. Ten straight Huskies reached base to start the inning, only broken up by a sacrifice fly from Escobedo. All in all, the Huskies put seven hits on the board, along with three walks and a hit by pitch, to score ten runs and take back the lead all in one inning.
Gavilan Fogarty-Harnish came in relief early on, taking over in the second inning. The sophomore pitched well in his Northwoods League debut, stretching through the seventh inning and coming away with the win.
Waterloo tried to come back, bringing the game within a run by the end. But Kieran Shaw (Harvard) slammed the door at the end to seal the game and got the save.
Christian Jones (Washington) had one of his best games as a Duluth Husky. The first baseman had three hits, including a double, a run scored, and a hit by pitch as he continues his hot stretch.
With the win, the Huskies move to 38-18 on the season, the best record in the North Division, and a half game back in the second half standings at 14-6.
The series with Waterloo continues tomorrow at Wade Stadium. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. as All-Star Troy Newell (Western Kentucky) gets the start for the Huskies.
