
Rafters and Rivets Collide in a Weekend Series

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - After the sweep of the Lakeshore Chinooks, the Rafters advance to 11-9 in the second half and 26-29 overall. Tonight, they will take on the Rockford Rivets. The Rivets are struggling in the second half of the season. They currently sit last in the south division standings and have a 5-16 record and 23-32 overall. Last time these two teams battled, the Rafters swept Rockford in the home series.
The Rafters plated 7 runs on 13 hits. Alex Fedje-Johnson (Davidson College) went 4-5 last night, hitting three singles and a double. Trayson Kubo (Stephen F. Austin) had a fantastic showing. He pitched a no hitter through six innings, giving up his first hit after the second out in the seventh. Mason McReaken pitched 1.2 innings to close the game. He struck out 4 batters in his 20th appearance for the cranberry and gold.
On the mound for the Rafters is Jake Cook (Birmingham Southern). The junior righty has a 1-6 record for the Rafters and a 6.17 ERA. In his 39.1 innings pitched, he has allowed 15 walks, 55 hits and struck out 31 batters.
Pitching for the Rivets is Jimmy Burnette. The freshman from Illinois is 0-4 with an ERA of 5.40. In 28.1 innings pitched, Burnette has allowed 20 runs on 27 hits, 33 walks and 25 strikeouts.
First pitch is slated for 6:05 p.m. The Rafters will conclude their four-game home stand tomorrow against the Rockford Rivets with a 4:05 p.m start.
