Rafters Fall in Kalamazoo 3-2

Kalamazoo, Mich- Wisconsin Rapids lost to Kalamazoo for the third time this season against Kalamazoo. They moved to 1-2 at Kalamazoo as they fell 3-2 this evening. Nathan Coakley (Saint Francis) collected the win, Jack Riley (UConn), took the loss, and Nick Wernke (West Virginia) got the save. Wisconsin Rapids fell to 5-5 in the 2nd half while the Growlers moved to 4-9.

All the scoring in the ball game occurred in the first four innings at Homer Stryker Field. The two teams traded runs in the first 3 innings before Kalamazoo took the lead for good in the fourth inning on a john Soteropulos (California) home run. The Rafters runs came on a solo home run by Brock Carpenter (Seattle) and on an RBI single from Dustin Woodcock (SIU-Edwardsville). The Growlers bullpen was the difference in the ball game as they threw 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball.

The Rafters finish their road trip in Kalamazoo tomorrow afternoon. First pitch for tomorrow's game will be at 4:05 PM C.S.T.. The Rafters will return to Witter Field July 14th when they will face off against the Madison Mallards.
