Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish only had three extra base hits on the night, but made up for it with 11 walks and they capitalized on all the extra base runners to win 9-3 against the Green Bay Bullfrogs Saturday night at Simmons Field.
Welcome to Kenosha T.J. Nichting. The newest member of the Kingfish (33-15) appeared in just his third game in a Kingfish uniform and has made an immediate impact. Nichting hit a two run home run in the second inning to bring around Jason Scholl and give Kenosha a 2-0 lead.
Up 4-2 entering the bottom of the fourth, the walks started to tally up for the Kingfish. There were four walks in the inning, including three straight walks at one point. Eric Filia and Scholl both drew RBI bases loaded walks. On Scholl's walk, the pitch got away from the catcher and the man on second, Alex Borglin, scampered around third to score on the wild pitch, making it 7-2 Kenosha. Two more insurance runs in the fifth inning would complete the scoring for the Kingfish on the night.
On the mound, Brendon Allen made his first start since June 16th and it was a glorious return for the righty. Allen limited Green Bay to three runs, one of them earned, on eight hits with three strikeouts to earn the win. He improved to 2-2 on the year and lowered his ERA to 3.99. Brett Shimanovsky came in to nail down the three inning save, his fourth this season. Â
The walks doomed the Bullfrogs (29-17) in tonight's game. Connor Donovan started and took the loss for the Bullfrogs, giving up seven runs on seven hits with five walks. Ryan Donovan, Matthew De la Rosa, and Danny Rosenbaum all collected two hits for Green Bay in the contest.
