
Rafkin Named Top Defenseman at Four Nations Tournament

Kearney, NE. - Future Tri-City Storm defenseman Ruben Rafkin was named the top defenseman of the 2018 U16 Four Nations Tournament in Umea, Sweden over the weekend. Rafkin recorded four assists in three games and led all defenseman in scoring in the tournament.
Rafkin, 16, of Turku, Finland was signed to a tender agreement by the Storm on January 5th and will be eligible to play for the team beginning next season. In the Four Nations Tournament, Rafkin skated in all three games with Finland and finished the tournament tied for 2nd in points. Zion Nybeck of Sweden led the event with five points in three games. Rafkin registered an assist in Finland's 3-2 tournament opening loss to Russia. Rafkin provided two assists in Finland's 7-4 defeat of Sweden on Saturday. Finland defeated the Czech Republic 4-2 in its final game of the tournament yesterday. Rafkin registered his 4th and final assist of the tournament in the game and helped Finland to a 2-1 record in the event.
Rafkin spent his 2017-2018 season with South Kent's Selects Hockey Academy in South Kent, Connecticut. He scored 10 goals and recorded 34 assists in 47 games during the regular season. Rafkin also provided offense during the playoffs, recording six points in four postseason games.
