November 11, 2021 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Rafael Diaz's save against El Paso Locomotive on Sept. 11th has been voted the Save of the Year through the end of the season Fan Vote.
In the 15th minute at El Paso, Rafa Diaz denied the home team not just once, but twice on a set piece. Locomotive FC's free kick from the midfield met an outstretched Diaz, who dove to his left for the save. El Paso found the rebound from close range, but a diving Diaz made a second stop on the other side of the goal.
Diaz went up against Carlos Saldaña's save vs Phoenix, and ultimately took the win with 75 percent of the votes.
