TONIGHT'S GAME: The fourth of a five game home and home series and the second of three in Richmond (the Tides took the first two at Harbor Park). The ninth of 16 meetings, the fourth of eight at The Diamond. Richmond is 4-4 vs. the Tides, 2-1 at home. Game two of a five game homestand The 31st of 48 meetings vs. South Division clubs (Braves are 13-17 vs. the South) and the 16th of 24 home contests vs. South Division clubs (Richmond is 7-8). The Braves were 5-11 vs. the Tides last season, 3-5 at The Diamond. The Braves are 355-403 all-time vs. Norfolk. The Braves are fourth in the South, 27 games behind first place Charlotte. The Tides are third in the South, 23.5 games out.

LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Braves beat the Tides 4-3 in 10 innings at The Diamond Monday. Brayan Pena launched a solo home run in the 10th to snap an eight game Richmond losing streak. Pena singled a run home in the first to give Richmond a 1-0 lead. The Tides tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Jose Offerman. Richmond went back up in the fifth when Gregor Blanco chased a run home with a single. Norfolk tied the game at two in the sixth on a run scoring single by Michael Tucker. Pena knocked in his second run of the game in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. The Tides forced extra innings with a run in the ninth on another RBI single by Offerman. Pena's walk off home run in the 10th was his first Triple-A homer. Will Startup picked up the win. Royce Ring took the loss. Jonathan Schuerholz had three hits for the Braves. Offerman and Ruben Gotay had two hits each for the Tides.

WALK OFF KNOCKS: The Braves won a game with a walk-off hit last night for the sixth time this season. Brayan Pena collected his second walk off knock of the season. He is the only Brave to do it twice this year. Other Braves with walk off hits this season include: Cesar Crespo, Scott Thorman, Carlos Mendez, and David Kelton.

AS THE ROSTER TURNS: The Braves acquired RHP Rich Salamandre yesterday in a trade with St. Louis for RHP Jorge Sosa. Salamandre has been assigned to Richmond. He comes to the Braves from Memphis of the PCL where he was 3-0 4.26. To make room on the roster RHP Franklin Nunez was released. Nunez was 1-6 6.09 in 30 games with Richmond. The Braves still have a full roster of 24 plus Phil Stockman on a rehab assignment. Richmond has made 89 roster moves this season.

OF STREAKS AND MEN: Gregor Blanco has hits in six straight games (11-24 .458). Since allowing three runs vs. Charlotte May 30, Wayne Franklin has allowed just four runs in 21 appearances over 31.3 innings (1.15 ERA). Phil Stockman has not allowed a run on the road with Richmond this season (seven appearances, 14 innings pitched on the road).

CRUNCHY NUMBERS: Braves pitchers are 12-53 (.226) at the plate this season with a SB and one RBI. Braves pinch hitters are 6-44 (.136). Richmond is 9-22 vs. National League affiliates. The Braves are in a season long stretch of 13 straight games vs. NL clubs. The Braves have played 16 extra inning games this season, tied with Rochester for the IL lead.
