Madison Mallards News Release
Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards (7-2) were defeated by the Green Bay Bullfrogs (4-5) by a final mark of 7-3 Thursday night at the Duck Pond. Despite the losing effort, the Mallards retained possession of first place in the Northwoods League's South Division.
Jonathan Quintana (Barry University) led the way offensively for the Mallards, mashing his first home run of the season and reaching base twice via hit by pitch. Anthony Gonsolin (St. Mary's College), Tony Butler (Madison College) and Jed Sprague (Pacific) each tabbed two hits in the contest.
Grant Spranger (Southeastern CC) allowed one unearned run across five innings on the mound for Madison, striking out two batters and conceding just two hits. Vince Arobio (Pacific) took the losing decision for the Mallards in allowing the eventual go-ahead run over one inning of work.
With their first home loss of the season behind them, the Mallards will turn their collective attention toward the opener of a two-game series with the Willmar Stingers, scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from Warner Park.
