Lancaster Stormers News Release

LANCASTER, Pa.-Perhaps the most popular player in the two-year history of the Lancaster Barnstormers is taking a second tour in the Red Rose City. Outfielder Quincy Foster, who the fans chose as the team's co-MVP in 2005, has agreed to the terms that will bring him back to Lancaster. Foster is one of seven additional players to agree to terms with the Barnstormers, Lancaster manager Frank Klebe announced today.

Foster is a career .286 hitter and has posted some of the best numbers of his career in Lancaster. In 2005, Foster hit .320 with 11 home runs and 70 RBIs for Lancaster and was second in the Atlantic League in triples (7), hits (165) and stolen bases (55). Foster has two career stolen base titles, including his rookie year when he stole 73 bases for Kane County (Elgin, Ill.).

"I'm looking forward to coming back," Foster said. "I loved my time in Lancaster and I'm anxious to move back and hopefully I can be a part of a championship this season-especially since I was playing in Connecticut when the guys won it last year."

Originally drafted by the Florida Marlins in 1995, Foster, 32, has also spent time in the Montreal Expos organization, including two seasons with the Harrisburg Senators. His Barnstormers contract was purchased last season by the San Francisco Giants and Foster was assigned to the team's double-A affiliate in Connecticut.

Among other players to agree to terms with Lancaster:

LHP Eric Ackerman appeared in 37 games for the Barnstormers in 2006, including seven starts. The Reading native, who currently resides in Lancaster County, went 6-5 last season and posted a 2.72 ERA in his 30 appearances out of the bullpen.

RHP Scott Sobkowiak went 9-7 in 26 games for the Barnstormers last season with a 4.61 ERA. The 29-year-old started game two of the Atlantic League Championship Series in Bridgeport.

LHP Ross Peeples returned from Tommy John surgery last season to post 3.55 ERA in 23 relief appearances for the Barnstormers.

RHP Todd Pennington was acquired by the Barnstormers late last season and had a 2.08 ERA in 13 appearances.

"I feel pretty blessed to have four guys of such high quality competing for spots in our bullpen," Klebe said. "On paper, we're putting together a solid team. I'm anxious to find out how good we can be."

INF Dario Delgado has 37 home runs in the Atlantic League over the past two seasons. Originally drafted by the Phillies in 1997, Delgado has spent portions of the past two seasons in Newark and Atlantic City.

The Barnstormers also agreed to terms with former Penn State catcher Jeremy Dietrick, who last played in the Atlantic League in 2003 with Atlantic City.

Opening Night for the defending Atlantic League Champion Barnstormers will be May 4, 2007 when they take on the Road Warriors at 7:05 p.m. Only season ticket holders can currently guarantee seats for Opening Day and the 2007 Atlantic League All-Star Game, to be held July 11 at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Single-game tickets for regular season games will go on sale during the Barnstormers' FanFest, scheduled for Saturday, April 14.
