Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights News Release
Following a 4-1 win, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights (4-4-1, 9pts.) look to continue their success against the Northeast Generals (3-4, 6pts.) with a Friday night rematch at Revolution Ice Centre.
About Yesterday
Each of the four Wilkes-Barre goals were scored in a special teams situation. The knights forged two power play tallies in the second period on a five minute major to Northeast's Alberto Pison. Adrian Danchenko then scored shorthanded in the third period, before Gabe Temple put things away with an empty net goal. The Knights also managed to go six-for-six on the penalty kill.
The Not So Behaved Generals
Northeast skated into Thursday's game with the fewest penalty minutes in the North American Hockey League. While the team did have at least two fewer games played than any other NAHL team, their 46 PIM were an impressive 26 minutes less than second fewest (Springfield Jr. Blues). The Generals gave their opposition a combined 21 power plays through the teams' first six games.
Yesterday was a different story. The Knights were gifted with seven man advantages and the Generals took 17 minutes in the box, making it the most PIM in a game for them this season by far.
Temple Run
Knights' center Gabe Temple scored two goals in Thursday's win to take over the the team lead in points with nine (5G-4A). The Michigan-Tech bound Temple made it his third multi-point contest this season. At home, Temple has notched four points in his last four games coming at Revolution Ice Centre.
For What It's Worth
Zach Stejskal has made six starts for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton so far. The net minder has faced 40 or more shots in four of those games and has won three of them. Stejskal is currently riding a four-game winning streak. In that time he has made 163 saves on 168 shots.
Generals' forward Louis Boudon was held scoreless in Thursday afternoon's game. The forward leads his team in points with 10 (4G-6A), and across 60 NAHL games, he has only went multiple contents without a point seven times.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has allowed just 24 goals in nine games played this year. Across the NAHL, the club ranks second among teams with nine or more games played for fewest goals against.
After yesterday's six-for-six effort on the PK, The Knights check in at 83.7% on the kill, ranking sixth in the league.
