Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - With just 3:51 remaining, Nick Siffringer broke a 1-1 tie to lead the Lone Star Brahmas (3-5-0-1, 7 pts.) to a 3-1 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays on Friday night at American Bank Center.

Santeri Hartikainen scored the lone goal for the IceRays (3-6-0-0, 6 pts.). The two teams rematch in Corpus Christi Saturday at 7:05 PM.

Following a scoreless first period, Frank Trazzera scored a power-play goal on a rebound from the bottom of the right circle at 5:24 of the second period. Hartikainen then tied the game with less than two minutes remaining in the second period, off a feed from fellow Finnish forward Aleksi Peltonen.

Siffringer's goal came on a great individual effort, cutting into the Corpus Christi zone from center ice and burying a top-shelf backhander on the glove side. Jack Sampson then added an empty-net goal with 2.8 seconds left to secure the two-goal victory for the visitors.

Lone Star outshot the IceRays by a 28-27 margin. Corpus Christi netminder Sam Best made 25 saves, including a sensational glove snatch in the second period. The goal by Trazzera ended a shutout streak of 91:53 for Best dating back to Sept. 28.

The IceRays will wear the same pink jerseys on Saturday night. The game-worn specialty jerseys will be auctioned off for charity immediately following the game.
