Quick Goals Pace Hitmen to 4-1 Victory

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen wrapped up a three-game homestand with a 4-1 win over the Kootenay ICE on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Hitmen were powered by a quick start, jumping out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Kaden Elder and Riley Fiddler-Schultz before the game was seven minutes old.

Tye Carriere and Hunter Campbell added second period markers to stretch the lead to 4-0 before Austin Schellenberg replied for the ICE.

Fiddler-Schulz was the only player with multiple points adding an assist for his first career two-point outing in the Western Hockey League.

Calgary outshot Kootenay 28-21 as goaltender Jack McNaughton made 20 saves to record the victory pushing the Hitmen four points ahead of the Brandon Wheat Kings for the final Eastern Conference Wildcard spot.

The Hitmen will now hit the road this week for a two-game trip to Saskatchewan. On Tuesday, Jan. 29 they visit the Regina Pats before heading to Swift Current on Wednesday, Jan. 30 for a date with the Broncos.

It's then back home for the start of "The Corral Series" presented by Adrenalin Source for Sports on Friday, Feb. 1 against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Stampede Corral. The night includes both a pre and post-game party at the BMO Centre Hall A. Take advantage of happy hour pricing from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. with $1.50 off all drinks. Then from 9:30 - 11:30 p.m. enjoy a live performance by Alberta-born and farm-raised country singer, Trevor Panczak. Entrance to both parties is free with the purchase of a Feb. 1 game ticket.
