Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

RALSTON, Nebraska-Peter Quenneville scored twice to help the Fighting Saints spoil the regular season home finale for the Omaha Lancers, leading Dubuque to a 3-2 win in front of a sold-out crowd at the Ralston Arena. Quenneville's goal only 1:12 into the third period proved to be the game-winner to lead the Fighting Saints to a season series sweep over Omaha.

Despite Omaha dictating the play in the opening minutes of the game, the Fighting Saints were first to strike. The chemistry produced from the line of Joe Manno, Evan Janssen, and Jarrid Privitera continued on a broken play that resulted in Privitera's 15th goal of the season. Brandon Carlson worked the puck behind the net to Manno swung towards the middle of the ice. Manno spun and shot from the high slot and the puck hit a Lancer blueliner's shin guard and popped right to Privitera. He made no mistake and fired a shot past Lancers goalie Alex Lyon's glove to make it 1-0 Dubuque at 6:31.

The Lancers peppered Dubuque netminder Arthur Brey with 17 shots in the first period and despite being extremely sharp in goal, Drew Melanson was able to convert and tie the game for Omaha at 15:34. Melanson fired a one-timer from the left wing off a beautiful Tyler Moy feed that beat a sprawling Brey to even the score.

The lone goal of the second period came from a mismatch of players from Dubuque. After Peter Quenneville finished serving a slashing penalty, the forward notched his 32nd goal of the season for Dubuque to put the Fighting Saints up 2-1. Manno worked a quick pass in front to John Stevens who streaked in on a breakaway. Stevens avoided a pokecheck from Lyon, and deked around the goaltender, but his shot was stopped by Lyon's outstretched right pad. The rebound sat in the crease and Quenneville charged the net, getting slammed with a hit as he knocked in the rebound for the goal at 16:40.

The two teams traded goals in the third period with Quenneville tallying from Stevens at 1:12, and Tucker Poolman answering for Omaha on a wristshot that sailed over Brey's glove and off the far post to make the game 3-2. After Poolman's goal, Dubuque shutdown the Lancers for the remainder of the game and held on for the victory.

Brey got the win in goal for the Fighting Saints kicking aside 26 shots. The Fighting Saints went 0-for-2 on the powerplay while Omaha was 0-for-5. Dubuque improved to 44-11-8 with the win heading into the regular season finale tomorrow.
