Omaha Lancers News Release

Ralston, Neb. - Peter Quenneville scored twice Friday evening as the Dubuque Fighting Saints hung on for a 3-2 victory over the Omaha Lancers in front of 4,009 fans at Ralston Arena. The setback came in front of the third-largest crowd at Ralston Arena this season and the 12th sellout of the year for the Lancers. The loss moved Omaha to 34-28-1 on the season as the team finished the year 19-13 at home.

Dubuque opened the scoring a little over six minutes into the game when Jarrid Privitera pounced on a rebound at the right side of the goal before sending in his 15th goal of the season. Joseph Manno and Brandon Carlson assisted on the even strength strike netted 6:31 into the first period. The goal marked the league-leading 42nd time in 63 games this season that the Fighting Saint have scored first. Omaha evened the contest though with less than five minute remaining in the opening frame when a backhand feed on the right wing by Tyler Moy found Drew Melanson on the left side who made no mistake in snapping in his 13th goal of the year. Jake Randolph earned the secondary assist on the five-on-five marker notched 15:34 into the period. The helper marked the team-leading 31st assist and 44th point of the season for Randolph.

The 1-1 deadlock remained through much of the second period until, with just over three minutes left in the middle stanza, Quenneville won a battle for a loose puck at the left side of the Lancers goal before depositing his 32nd goal of the season. John Stevens and Manno assisted on the even strength strike scored 16:40 into the second period of play.

The Fighting Saints doubled their lead just over a minute into the final period when Stevens found a streak Quenneville in the slot for his second goal of the game and 33rd conversion of the year. The five-on-five tally came 1:12 into the third period. The Lancers moved back to within a single goal just over a minute later though when Tucker Poolman stepped in on the left wing before snapping in his 14th goal of the season. The unassisted even strength strike came 2:41 into the final period of regulation and moved Poolman into sole possession of second place among USHL defensemen for goals scored.

That's as close as the Lancers would get though as Dubuque goaltender Arthur Brey was able to hold off Omaha's comeback preserving his 24th win of the season. Brey improved to 24-6-4 overall after 25 saves on 27 Lancers shots. Meanwhile, Omaha's Alex Lyon suffered the setback despite 29 saves on 32 Fighting Saints shots. Lyon moved to 26-21-1 overall this season.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow evening when they head to Sioux Falls to battle the Stampede in the team's final game of the 2012-2013 season.
