Regina Pats News Release

Regina, Sask. - In a historic first, Queen City Sports & Entertainment Group has announced the appointment of its first-ever, Chief Executive Officer, Gord Pritchard.

Pritchard's education, career and sports background is a natural next step in the evolution of Queen City Sports & Entertainment Group as they continue to strengthen the business and hockey operations of the Pats, while also planning to expand its focus to a full-service Sports and Entertainment business focusing on exceptional sports and entertainment experiences in the future.

After the Pats first season back in front of fans at the Brandt Centre, Brandt Group of Companies CEO and Regina Pats owner Shaun Semple said, "It is perfect timing to add Gord's exceptional blend of hockey experience and business and legal background to the organization as Queen City Sports & Entertainment look to the future in building a world-class sports and entertainment business here in Regina."

Semple added, "It's a natural evolution for Queen City Sports & Entertainment to broaden its portfolio to not only include the Regina Pats, but other types of sports and entertainment brands, as well. Many other organizations across Canada have a full portfolio of team management, events and entertainment, as well as facility management. Combining the synergies of these three areas is what allows organizations like ours to fully maximize our fan experience."

Pritchard, a practicing lawyer, has most recently been part of the in-house legal counsel team for the Brandt Group of Companies. He has been involved in hockey his entire life, playing minor hockey in Regina, U18AAA in Yorkton, three years in the MJHL with Neepawa and capping off his playing career with four years of Division III hockey at Brockport College in New York state.

An impressive body of work in the hockey industry began with a scouting role for the Toledo Walleye of the East Coast Hockey League while Pritchard was still attending law school. After law school he returned home to Saskatchewan where he started his legal career in Yorkton and continued his pursuits in hockey, joining the Yorkton Terriers as the Assistant General Manager from 2011 - 2014 and winning the Royal Bank Cup with the Terriers in 2014.

In 2014 Pritchard joined the Regina Pats Hockey Club and during the next six years held various positions in every department of the organization, culminating with the role of Director of Hockey Operations. Pritchard was also the Director of Hockey Operations for the 2018 Memorial Cup hosted by the Pats, an integral role that contributed to the success of that event.

"I am thrilled to be taking this new role," Pritchard said. "I firmly believe that strong communities are built on organizations that invest in creating better services and experiences for the people that call them home. Regina is a market with untapped potential, and I look forward to working with Shaun and the team to uncover new ways to enrich the community here in the Queen City."
