Bedard Breaks Canadian U18 Records in Win over Germany

Landshut, Germany - Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard set two Canadian records in Canada's 8-3 win over Germany at the 2022 IIHF U18 World Championship on Sunday.

The North Vancouver, B.C. native scored a hat-trick in the victory, surpassing Mathew Barzal as Canada's all-time leading scorer at the U18 worlds. Bedard now has 19 points in nine games at the tournament. Barzal's 16 points were the previous record.

Bedard also moved ahead of Shane Wright as Canada's all-time leading goal scorer, now with 11 goals. Wright previously held the record with 10 goals.

Pats prospect Matthew Wood has also been a stand out for Canada, with two goals in two games.

The Canadians will wrap up the round robin on Tuesday morning against Czechia at 7:30 a.m. Sask time (9:30 a.m. ET).

TSN and RDS, the official broadcast partners of Hockey Canada, will broadcast 13 games throughout the tournament, including all Team Canada preliminary-round games, four quarterfinals, both semifinals, and the bronze and gold medal games.
