New Jersey Jackals News Release

Despite falling behind early, a strong push in the fourth and fifth innings from the Quebec Capitales proved to be enough in their 6-4 win against the New Jersey Jackals on a rainy afternoon at Yogi Berra Stadium in New Jersey.

After a Carlos Triunfel single in the bottom of the second, Nolan Meadows opened the Jackals scoring account for the day with a two-run blast over the right field fence.

The Jackals extended their lead to three in the bottom of the third when a sacrifice fly from Seth Spivey scored John Ruetigger.

As the rain began to come down in the top of the fourth inning at Yogi Berra Stadium, the Capitales' offense came alive. Maxx Tissenbaum started the scoring for Quebec with an RBI single that scored T.J. White. The ensuing batter, Kalian Sams, ripped a double down the left-field line to add on another run, narrowing the Jackals' lead to 3-2.

Capitales' right fielder Phildrick Llewelyn was able to tie the game up later in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly to score Maxx Tissenbaum. Quebec would tack on two more runs in the fourth inning following an error from Jackals third baseman Taylor Oldham and a sacrifice fly from Yordan Manduley.

Quebec's offensive rally continued into the top of the fifth inning when James McOwen hit the first pitch of the inning off Jackals RHP Eduar Lopez over the right field fence to extend Quebec's lead to 6-3.

The Jackals would get one run back in the bottom of the sixth after David Harris led the inning off with a single and was eventually walked in to score by Capitales reliever Will Dennis.

Despite walking in the one run, Dennis escaped the inning relatively unharmed. The Jackals had the bases loaded with no outs when Dennis replaced Mike Hepple, who started the inning for Quebec.

Karl Gelinas got the win for Quebec after he pitched five innings and giving up three earned runs. With the win, Gelinas improved his record on the season to 8-7. Trevor Bayless picked up his ninth save of the season.

After pitching four and a third and giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits, Eduar Lopez fell to 1-3 on the season.

The Jackals and Trois-Rivieres Aigles are set to a four game series Tuesday afternoon with a scheduled doubleheader beginning at 5:05 P.M.
