Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA - Kyle Hurst won his fourth straight start on Friday night, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes got back in the win column with an 8-3 win over the Lancaster JetHawks, in the opening game of a four-game series at The Hangar in Lancaster.

Hurst (5-3) pitched a season-high eight innings, allowing just two earned runs on six hits, in earning his fourth win in as many games.

Hurst gave up a solo shot to Brian Pellegrini in the first, as the JetHawks took a 1-0 lead.

The Quakes' offense got on the board with their first of seven runs against Lancaster starter Ross Seaton (6-13), tying the game at 1-1 in the third, thanks to a two-out RBI single by Darwin Perez.

A solo homer from Lancaster's Jose Altuve put the JetHawks back in front in the bottom of the third, as his third home run of the year made it a 2-1 game.

It was all Quakes from there, as they got the equalizer in the fourth, as Richard Cates doubled home Eric Oliver to even the game at 2-2.

The Rancho bats put together a five-run fifth, putting the game out of reach. Perez knocked in the go-ahead run, as his RBI single plated Alberto Rosario for a 3-2 lead. Two batters later with the bases loaded, Gabe Jacobo walked to force in another run, making it a 4-2 game. Oliver followed with a bases-loaded double, driving in three to make it a 7-2 game.

The JetHawks got an unearned run against Hurst in the sixth to make it a 7-3 game.

In the ninth, Luis Jimenez came off the bench and ripped a pinch-hit solo homer, his 12th of the year to cap the scoring at 8-3.

Eddie McKiernan worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to wrap it up, giving the Quakes a two-game edge on both High Desert and Lake Elsinore with just three games remaining in the regular season.

The Quakes (37-30) send Manaurys Correa (1-10) to the mound on Saturday, as he'll take on Lancaster righthander Robert Donovan (1-2) at 7:00pm, in the second game of the four-game series.
