Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Pedro Guerrero brought an end to a wild Sunday night at LoanMart Field, as his two-run two-out single brought the Quakes back for an 11-10 victory over the first-place Lancaster JetHawks.
The win for Rancho gives them seven straight series victories, as they take two of three from the JetHawks to pull to within four games of first in the South Division.
Trailing by a run in the ninth, Pratt Maynard kept the game alive against JetHawks' closer Travis Ballew (3-4), taking a 3-2 pitch in the dirt for a two-out walk. Pinch-runner Scott Wingo checked in for Maynard, then went from first to third on Casio Grider's fifth hit of the night, a sharp double down the left-field line.
Guerrero, who already had one two-out go-ahead hit on the night, with a two-run double in the seventh, blooped a two-strike pitch in front of right fielder Chris Epps, plating both Wingo and Grider to win the game. Guerrero finished with a season-high five RBIs, going 3-for-5 on the night.
Both the Quakes and the JetHawks blew multiple leads on the night, with Lancaster blowing leads of 3-0 and 10-9 and the Quakes unable to hold leads of 7-4 and 9-7, respectively.
Jarret Martin (6-7) earned the win, despite giving up a go-ahead run-scoring hit to M.P. Cokinos in the top of the ninth.
Rancho (19-19) has now reached the .500 mark for the first time in the second half, thanks to 17 wins in their last 25 games. The Quakes take a day off on Monday, then head to San Bernardino on Tuesday, opening a three-game set against Inland Empire at 7:05pm. Carlos Frias (2-3) will take on Mark Sappington (10-4) in the series-opener from San Manuel Stadium.
The Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, August 6th, taking on the Lake Elsinore Storm in a three-game home stand. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
