Quakes improve to 3-0-1 in preseason

INDIO, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes defeated D.C. United 2-1 on Thursday morning at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif. as part of the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational. Jamiro Monteiro and Cristian Espinoza each scored for San Jose.

The Earthquakes jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first-half goals by Monteiro and Espinoza before D.C. halved the deficit via penalty kick. The two teams will now play another friendly utilizing a second group of players on an adjacent field.

The Quakes will face Minnesota United FC on Feb. 15 and the New York Red Bulls on Feb. 18 before returning to San Jose ahead of the regular season opener on Feb. 25 in Atlanta.
