Stockton Ports News Release

The Stockton Ports dropped game two of the three game series to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Monday by a final score of 14-7. The two teams combined for eight home runs in the contest.

Ports starter James Simmons only went 3.0 innings, giving up nine hits, including a home run, and six earned runs before he was removed from the game. J.J. Leaper relieved Simmons for his debut in the California League. Leaper gave up seven runs (six earned) including three home runs over an inning of work before he was pulled. Josh Lansford came in and pitched two perfect innings for the Ports, striking out four in the process, before Connor Hoehn came in to pitch. Hoehn went an inning, gave up a solo home run before striking out the side. Mike Benacka closed out the game, going 2.0 innings, giving up just one hit and striking out three.

Offensively, the first three batters for the Ports saw most of the action. Myrio Richard went 2-for-5 with a home run to lead off the first inning for the Ports. Conner Crumbliss went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. Michael Choice went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs scored to extend his on-base streak to 46 games. Petey Paramore also had a good night, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.

The Ports and the Quakes face off in the rubber match tomorrow at 7:05 as Rob Gilliam for the Ports and Andres Santiago for the Quakes take the mound.
