Visalia Rawhide News Release
RANCHO CUCAMONGA - The Rawhide and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes exchanged runs all game long, but it would be the Rawhide who would get the last laugh, as David Nick hit the game-winning three-run homerun in the 10th inning to beat the Quakes 8-5.
The Rawhide took back the lead with two runs in the 8th inning to make it 5-4, but the Quakes would respond in the bottom of the 9th. After closer Jake Barrett walked Jon Garcia to lead off the inning, Bobby Coyle tied the game with an RBI double to center field. It was only the second blown save for Barrett in 13 tries and only his third earned run of the year in 17.0 innings pitched.
David Nick would have Barrett's back in the top of the 10th inning. After Kerry Jenkins and Michael Perez reached base, Nick hammered a two-out homer to left field off Jon Michael Redding to give the Rawhide the lead that they would never relinquish.
Kaleb Fleck struck out the side in the bottom of the 10th to secure the victory and pick up the save. The Rawhide and Quakes will be back at it for game 2 of this series on Friday evening at 7:05 pm.
