Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Quakes tied a season-high with three home runs, but it wasn't enough to down visiting Visalia, as they fell to the Rawhide, 8-5, in 10 innings on Thursday night at LoanMart Field.

Bobby Coyle doubled to deep left-center to score Jonathan Garcia and knot things up in the bottom of the ninth, but Visalia designated hitter David Nick belted a three-run home run in the top of the 10th to win the game for the Rawhide.

Angelo Songco, O'Koyea Dickson and Garcia each crushed solo home runs, but the Quakes could muster up little else early on to back starter Garrett Gould.

Gould allowed three runs (two earned) over five innings and struck out a pair in a no-decision.

Following his game-tying double in the ninth, Coyle moved to third on a Chris O'Brien groundout and then was thrown out at the plate trying to score the winning run on a Casio Grider groundout.

With two out and Grider on first, Rawhide reliever Jake Barrett walked Darnell Sweeney and Noel Cuevas to load the bases for Scott Wingo. The second baseman grounded out to second base to end the threat and the inning.

JonMichael Redding was tagged with the loss after giving up two hits and three runs (zero earned) in his two innings on the hill.

Left-hander Cody Wheeler surrendered the three home runs and four earned runs, but limited the damage in his no decision. Barrett (W, 2-0), despite blowing the save, picked up the victory for Visalia. Kaleb Fleck allowed a pair of singles in the last of the tenth, but fanned Chris O'Brien to end the game and earn his fifth save.

The loss drops the Quakes to .500 in the standings at 23-23 on the season, but they will have a chance to earn one back on Friday night. Lindsey Caughel (1-1, 3.27 ERA) gets the call for Rancho, while left-hander Andrew Barbosa (3-2, 3.38 ERA) takes the mound for San Jose.
