Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA- As was the case in the first two games of the series, the Stockton Ports jumped out to quick lead against the Quakes with Shane Keough at third and Steve Kleen at first, Jayson Miller threw a wild pitch allowing Keough to scamper home with the first run of the game.
The Quakes would tie the game in the 2nd as Jay Brossman blasted a solo home run, his second in as many days, to even the score 1-1.
Rancho would take the lead in the 3rd as Alberto Rosario reached on an infield single, went to second on an error on an errant pickoff attempt and scored on a RBI single by Andrew Romine to take a 2-1 lead.
The Quakes added another run in the 5th as Alberto Rosario started another rally with a single. He went to second on a sacrifice and to third on a groundout. With two outs, Efren Navarro singled to right to plate Rosario and grab a 3-1 edge.
That was all Jayson Miller needed as he lasted six innings allowing just a run on six hits. Robert Fish pitched a scoreless seventh and Ysmael Carmona gave up two hits in 2/3 of an inning. Michael Kohn came on for Carmona in the 8th and struck out Christian Vitters to end the Ports threat. Kohn then struck out the side in the 9th to finish off the 3-1 win.
The Quakes will finish their series and the regular season home schedule with Stockton on Sunday. Left hander Manuel Flores will be on the mound for the Quakes against left hander Julio Ramos for the Ports. Game time is scheduled for 5:05pm.
Quakes win, Quakes win.
