Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

Moline, Ill. - The Quad City Steamwheelers announced today a new community program designed to motivate students entitled STEAMwork (Success Through Education and Motivation). The program is designed to be adapted for schools, day cares, youth groups and other organizations that deal with youth.

"The Quad City Steamwheelers have always been dedicated to the Quad Cities community," said Shawn Brown, Vice President/General Manager of the Steamwheelers. "This program is a great way for us to inspire children."

The main speakers in the program are quarterback J.J. Raterink and fullback/linebacker Nikolas Kerr. Raterink, a former Rhodes Scholar candidate, focuses on the importance of getting an education and staying in school, while Kerr talks about his past problems with substances and the importance of saying no to alcohol and drugs.

"Both players have very inspirational stories," said Brown. "They are outstanding citizens and we are very fortunate to have them as part of our team, but they also want to be a part of the Quad Cities team by giving their story and advice to children in the area."

For more information on the program or to book an appearance with your organization please contact the team office at (309) 797-8500.
