Amarillo Venom News Release

AMARILLO, TEXAS- The Amarillo Dusters announced Dwayne Slay has signed a contract to play with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL for the 2008 season.

"It is our goal to move players to the next level," said head coach Chris MacKeown. "Slay has what it takes to perform at that next level."

Slay joined the Dusters roster after spending last season with the Chicago Bears in the NFL. Slay began making a name for himself as a defensive player at Texas Tech.

"My ultimate goal is to make it back to the NFL," Slay said.

In all Slay will not be leaving Amarillo without having made a small impact on the community. Slay spent time with students at Whittier Elementary School last week, encouraging them to follow their dreams.

Coach MacKeown is confident with the Dusters roster going into training camp even with the changes.

"It's a part of the game, and you have to be adaptable to changes," MacKeown said. "The Dusters are in great shape, despite Slay moving to the next level."

Training camp begins next week. Players will be traveling from all over the country to Amarillo in hopes of making a run for the Arena Cup.

"The season starts soon, and we will be ready," MacKeown said. "The Amarillo Dusters are going to be a team Amarillo can be proud of."
