Quad City Riverhawks News Release
Davenport - The Quad City Riverhawks (7-3) announced the signing of 6'2" 200lb Guard Tony Weeden out of Chicago State University and activated Murphy Carter for tomorrow night's game against the Twin City Ballers.
The signing of Weeden was done as a safety measure as SirValiant Brown was deactivated for tomorrow night's game, the start of 4 games in 4 nights, as he is nursing an ankle injury suffered in Sunday's defeat against Peoria. Rock Island High School graduate John Banks has been put on the inactive list to make room for Carter.
Weeden played for the Louisville Colonels (ABA) last season averaging 19 pts., 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game. He also spent time with Macon in the WBA.
The Riverhawks start a 4 game in 4 night home stand tomorrow at 7:05pm as the Twin City Ballers (3-7) make their first visit to Marycrest. Friday's game is Ladies Night as ladies get in for $5 and receive $2 Bud or Bud Light's in the "Above the Rim" Skybox. Saturday, the Chicago Rockstars (6-5) make their second visit to Davenport. Saturday is Military Appreciation night and fans showing military ID receive a $5 ticket. Sunday the Peoria Kings make a return visit for Faith Night at a special 4:05pm game time. Fans can bring in a church bulletin and receive a complimentary ticket with the purchase of a ticket.
Monday, the newly named Sauk Valley Rollers come to town coached by former Quad City Thunder/University of Illinois great Kenny Battle.
Tickets are available by logging onto www.etix.com, by calling the Riverhawks office at 563/445-2375 or are at Marycrest College Activity Center prior to the game.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
