Kalamazoo, MI- The Wings Stadium Complex, which is also home to The Annex and The Cube, announces that Puck Whacker will hold a 3-on-3 inline hockey tournament at Wings Stadium on Saturday, July 30th.
Puck Whacker is a company that organizes inline tournaments nationwide, including the December 2005 Championship Celebration at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, as well as the 2005 National Championship Tournament in Minnesota later this summer. Over the past several years, the sport of Roller Hockey has become one of the fastest growing sports in North America.
"This tournament is fun for everyone and for players of all levels, including those who have never even played before," said Puck Whacker President Anthony Pratley. "By using a 50'x90' rink, it creates a fast paced environment that allows for high scoring games. You can not only shoot from anywhere, but you can score from anywhere!"
The inline tournament will make it's first-ever stop in Kalamazoo in the Wings Stadium North Parking Lot. Puck Whacker's goal is to make this an annual summertime event.
The tournament features six divisions that are broken up by age groups. The divisions are ages 6 and under, 7 to 8, 9 to 10, 11 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, 18 & up, and 30 & over. Boys and girls of all ages are welcome in this one day event. Players will be required to wear skates (goalies included), helmets, elbow pads, gloves, and shin/knee pads and to bring their own sticks. "Pucks", also known as water filled Z-balls, are provided by the tournament.
Registration is currently ongoing at www.puckwhacker.com or by calling 1-888-400-PUCK. The registration fee for this 3-on-3 tournament is $30 per person.
