Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release
ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League, announced today that they have acquired the rights to veteran defenseman Geno Parrish by way of a trade with the Port Huron Flags.
In exchange for the rights to Parrish, the Flags acquired the rights to defenseman Shayne Tomlinson, who spent five of the last six seasons in Port Huron with the Border Cats, and most recently with the Beacons.
"Geno is a tremendous offensive player," Vipers Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rick Adduono said of the trade, "and its really a win-win [trade] because Tomlinson will have the opportunity to continue to play in Port Huron where he is a resident." Adduono says that he will continue to negotiate with Parrish in hopes of reaching an agreement to allow the defenseman to play for the Vipers in 2005-06.
Parrish was picked up by the Flags in the July 1st expansion draft from the Danbury Trashers, where, in 2004-05 he put up 13 points (1 G, 12 A) in 21 regular season games, and 5 points (2 G, 3 A) in 11 postseason games. The 30-year-old Parrish also played for Greensboro of the ECHL during Adduono's time as head coach of the Generals from 2002-2004.
Geno Parrish's career statistics are included with this release.
